Biographical Info

I am a person who is looking for the greatest long-term possibilities for the people I am trying to help. I understand that people who are going through a family issue are often facing the most difficult time of their lives, both emotionally and financially. Because the circumstances are so difficult, it is easy to get lost in the moment and forget about the future and what it has for us.

I work very hard to help balance my clients immediate goals with what they want their future to look like; to help them continue to look towards a day when life will have come back to a new normal and the sun is shining again.

I am a very straight forward communicator and will let you know what I think, and do so in a timely manner. While wishes and hopes are great things to have, the practicalities of life often intrude; especially in family legal issues. I will give you practical advice and tips on how to deal with the now, but also in hopes of helping you find the future you are looking to achieve.

I am a collaborative family lawyer and a practicing mediator. My association memberships include the Association of Collaborative Family Professionals, the Alberta Family Mediation Society, the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association. My academic credentials include a Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta, other various degrees from other Universities and Colleges, and I was a contributing author for the previous Family Law Practice Manual.

One thing to make very clear about myself is that I truly believe in the collaborative family law model as a better way to solve most family law disputes, especially where there are children. I will work diligently for you and provide you with the advice and tools needed to help you move forward.
